Festival Theme: "New Real"

"48 Hours Novosibirsk" was a dynamic contemporary art festival that transformed the city center into a vibrant exhibition space over a single weekend. Spanning multiple venues, the festival invited artists to explore the theme of "New Real," prompting reflections on contemporary existence and evolving realities. It served as a platform for diverse artistic expressions, fostering dialogue and engagement within the local art scene.

About the Curatorial Project "Last-minute tours to intimate places": Curated by Art-group BERTOLLO, "Last-minute tours to intimate places" was presented as a "polite intervention" within the corridor of the Union of Artists' workshops during the festival. This international project challenged the idea of separation from the world, asserting "we are the world." It highlighted the artist's role in exploring reality through self-examination and emphasized the importance of personal relationships, sensitivity, and dialogue in addressing both personal and global issues. The project aimed to foster trust, openness, and responsibility, promoting a new, more reasonable approach to relationships.
An intimate altar dedicated to the ancient Greek heroine, Antigone. This installation is accompanied by original poetry that weaves her narrative with contemporary documentary allusions, creating a dialogue across time.

A key component, "Translucent Questions," presents an interactive interrogation scene: a chair invites viewers to shine a flashlight upon transparent sheets, uncovering profound inquiries into the nature of community, the power of voice, the concept of multiplicity, and the role of art itself.

The impression is like a total solar eclipse
From September 13 to 15 this year, Novosibirsk hosted the contemporary art festival “48 Hours Novosibirsk,” organized by the Goethe Institute and the reformed City Center for Fine Arts (CC19), which took as their basis the model of the German festival “48 Hours Neukölln,” which arose from a grassroots initiative by artists in a once depressed area of Berlin. CC19 is a gallery in the city center that previously worked primarily with painters and graphic artists from the Union of Artists and is now making a turn toward contemporary art right before our eyes.
